Acrylic on Canvas, 40″ x 16″ *SOLD
The Big Dipper is the ancient mediator between Heaven and Earth, the constellation the Chinese have long understood as humanity’s relationship to the vast guiding intelligence above us. Seven is the number of potential and pathology both, the number that asks every challenge you face the same question, will this break you or will it become the very thing that reveals what you’re capable of. This is Stage Six of Alchemy, the stage where you learn to fly in your own life, not escaping it but moving through it the way the sword moves, twirling like a tornado, gathering momentum until lift becomes possible. In the painting, a sword twirls like a tornado, summoning down from the heavens, a Tai Chi form that asks what you want to bring into creation, or more precisely, what the Divine wants brought into creation through you. Even standing upright, the human body reaches toward Heaven without trying, the same reach every creature aspires to when it rises onto two legs. Jaye painted that exact motion, the sword turning, the sky responding, the moment summoning stops being a request and becomes a kind of co-creation, the moment you finally take flight.
The Contemplation: Sit with the piece and ask what you are ready to summon into your life. Notice whether the answer feels like your own desire, or something larger asking to move through you.
