Every plant carries a spirit, and the spirit of Artemisia Vulgaris, in particular, has been a companion to healers and self-cultivators for thousands of years across traditions, cultures, and continents.
In Daoist Alchemy, plants are not inert substances that produce predictable biochemical effects. They are living intelligences with their own spirit, their own agenda, and their own capacity to initiate healing at levels that go far beyond the physical. Artemisia in particular is a humankind’s best healer friend — a plant that burns away what no longer belongs, clears the residue of unresolved experience, nourishes our blood, and makes space for what is true to emerge. She works on the body. She works on the mind. She works on the spirit and dimensions of the self that most medicine never touches.
This workshop is not a clinical moxa tutorial. It is an initiation into a different relationship with one of the most powerful plant spirits in our tradition — and through that relationship, an opening into what multi-dimensional healing actually means. For practitioners, it transforms how you work with moxa in the treatment room. For self-cultivators, it opens a door to plant spirit connection as a genuine practice of self-transformation.

Leta Herman (CI-AOBTA) is an Alchemical Healer, Chinese Medicine teacher, Podcast host of the Inspired Action Podcast, as well as author of Through the Mystery Gate, The Energy of Love, Connecting Your Circle, and The BIG “Little” Gua Sha Book. She is the founder of the Alchemy Healing Center, a very active Chinese Medicine clinic in Northampton, MA dedicated to helping clients find their true potential through Alchemical transformation. She is the driving force behind the new Alchemy Learning Center (AlchemyLearningCenter.com), offering online classes and live events related to The Five Elements, The Nine Palaces, and Alchemy.
She has immersed herself in the philosophies of Daoism, Alchemical Healing, and Chinese Medicine for over twenty years. She is a long-time student of Master Jeffrey Yuen, an 88th generation Daoist priest and Chinese Medicine master. She is also a graduate of Eliot Cowan’s Plant Spirit Medicine studies program and has studied intensively with well-known teachers and former students of J.R. Worsley, who brought Five Element Acupuncture to England in the 1960s.
Brittney Chowning (MSTCM, Dipl. OM, L.Ac) is an acupuncturist, Shamanic Plant Spirit practitioner, and certified Alchemical and Ghost Points Practitioner for the ALC. She brings a wealth of experience with the plant spirit world to this workshop!
